MyView Review: Is This Survey Panel For Real?

by Spencer Mitchell on July 6, 2012

WARNING: I do NOT recommend MyView.

I highly recommend that you join right now because it’s a MUCH better-paying survey panel.

Does MyView really have excellent payouts, fun and rewarding surveys and first-class customer service? You should read this review to see whether or not you should join this growing survey panel. The Basics

If you’re already familiar with the ins and outs of how surveys for money work, then you may want to scroll down past this section or just join MyView right now.

Like many paid online survey websites, MyView acts like a friend that brings together two acquaintances: you, the consumer and large market research organizations. The research panels represent brands large and small, including those you probably know and trust, such as Walmart and Pepsi.

Market research groups learned long ago that simply asking people for their opinion wasn’t very effective. After all, you probably have better things to do than help market research companies figure out consumer preferences. As an incentive to get you to volunteer your thoughts, companies like MyView will reward you. Considering the vast amount of MyView surveys they currently have available, it’s clear to me that things are working out for them.

I also want to make abundantly clear that there is no such thing as a MySurvey scam of any kind. They’re a BBB accredited business and have thousands of happy and well-paid users (like me!) that recommend them.

Why My View?

One of the things I love about MyView is the fact that they don’t just have generic surveys that anyone can fill out. Yes, it’s nice to be able to be eligible for dozens surveys and get your email inbox full of invites.

The big downside of that is, as you may have learned yourself, is that these surveys tend to pay quite poorly. By the way, you can learn more about MyView here. On the other hand, any survey that requires some level of expertise (ie. web design, film, cameras, video games, healthcare ) tend to pay significantly more than those targeted to a general audience.

It’s these “expert surveys” that separate MyView from the rest of the paid survey pack.

In fact, they are more of an opinion research group than a rank and file survey site (learn more about how opinion research works from UConn’s site). According to their website they offer many types of surveys, including opinions on movie trailers, focus groups, product testing and more. They seem to have a particular high amount of surveys for IT professionals.

Even better, they’re a long-standing corporation with a track record of integrity. Before they were known as MyView, the site was called Authentic Response, which has been in business since 1996. This means you can provide them with your contact information and not have to worry about getting spammed with offer after offer.

Like most survey panels these days, MyView offers their users points instead of cash. When you take a survey, you’re awarded a certain amount of “MyView points”, which vary significantly by survey (obviously, longer and more challenging surveys hook you up with more points). Not as good as cash, but as I’ll explain next, you can at least turn them into cash when redeeming them.

The site also offers a pretty nice variety of rewards, including prepaid Visa cards and gift cards (these are in lieu of PayPal payments, which they used to offer). Please note that you need at least 20,000 points (the approximate equivalent of $15) to become eligible get anything cool.

They tend to take customer feedback VERY seriously. Check out their robust and interactive customer feedback area:

As you can see in this screenshot your feedback doesn’t get sent to some customer service black hold. They (anonymously of course) post your feedback publicly. They even report whether or not they’ve put your suggestion into action!

MyView Reviews From Other Members

What do other people around the web have to say about MyView? I decided to do some research to see if I could find a consensus on what people in the paid surveys community thought about this survey panel.

Overall, the reviews were overwhelmingly positive! People really liked that you could start taking surveys (and racking up points) right away. This is a problem with some survey panels that seem like they’ve simply given up on survey invitations.

Another feature of MyView that people tended to rave about was the fact that you could cash in your points at only $15. Many other survey panels force you to earn up to $100 to get paid (crazy!), which can take some time depending on how much time and effort you put towards paid surveys.
